JVB Preksha Meditation center is a non-profit spiritual, educational, charitable and humanitarian organization dedicated to serving Houston society by strengthening the individual. It started in 2000 and is based on the teachings of Acharya Shri Tulsi and Acharya Shri Mahapragya. Its mission and vision is to “Comprehend the soul and transform yourself” through the practice of Preksha Meditation, Yoga, Pranayama, Kayotsarga, Anupreksha and Mantra Meditation. Preksha Meditation is a technique of meditation for attitudinal change, behavioral modification and integrated development of your personality and takes you on a journey to your inner consciousness through your perception and concentration. The center promotes Preksha Meditation to everyone irrespective of his or her race, religion, language, color, sex and belief.
The uniqueness of this center lies in the fact that all of its weekly programs and events are crafted and conducted under the auspicious presence and guidance of two Jain nuns, called Samanijis who are the disciples of Acharya Shri Mahashraman, the eleventh Acharya and supreme head of Jain Shwetambar Terapanth group. Glorious in Peace, humble in learning and specialist in simplicity is the brief introduction of Samanijis. They are the ones who not only motivate and promote the worshipping of the soul but also live and practice it constantly. People from every corner have experienced peace, happiness and bliss by listening to their spiritual discourses, counseling and the practices enunciated by them in the Preksha Meditation camps.
Another flagship program of JVB Preksha center dedicated to serving Houston Community is Gyanshala program which is open to kids’ ages 4-14 years on every 1st & 3rd Sunday of the month. JVB Gyanshala values our intellectual capital, and nurture it through a perfect blend, of the traditional as well contemporary ways and means, for the comprehensive development, of the kid’s personality, so that every year the society at large is benefitted with the positive minded young individuals who can significantly contribute to the value creation process.
